The Harbor House Bed & Breakfast
The New York Times Guide to Hotels in New York City "...It's not luxurious in any way, but it does have views over the harbor to Manhattan. The Harbor House feels more like a beach house than anything else, and you can lie in bed and look out to the water. It is distinctly un-New York in feel. Rooms tend to be large, with a clock radio, TV, dresser, armoire, ceiling fan, but there are no phones in the rooms. A good-sized continental breakfast is offered. Having your morning coffee on the porch would be a treat. It's the water, the Verrazano, the Statue of Liberty, Manhattan, and it feels like it's all yours."

IDA(Tuesday, November 15 16 01:00 am EST)Loved it!! Peaceful and very relaxing Michael Marmer(Wednesday, November 25 15 04:07 pm EST)We stayed at the Harbor House recently for a few days. Location was great for us. Easy to catch the ferry to the city. Mo, the proprietor, is a man of integrity and as pleasant a person I have met ina long time. He made us feel welcome and appreciated. Anyone looking for a nice place to stay will do well to check this establishment! Bob Burke(Wednesday, October 30 13 03:51 pm EDT)My wife and I had the pleasure of staying once again at Harbor House. You can't help but be impressed by Moe's prodigious efforts to provide a friendly and welcoming environment. I tend to be abagel, cereal, and juice person at breakfast but I really enjoyed the bananas, grapes, and strawberries that Moe provided. We stayed in the Verrazano Room with its spectacular view of New Yorkharbor. The Verrazano has plenty of room for a week's stay. Our room at Harbor House was the perfect place in which to relax and make our plans for the next day. What could be better after a long dayof touring than being lulled to sleep by the sound of the waves rolling on the Staten Island shoreline! Harbor House is easily New York City's best bargain after the Staten Island Ferry! Norma Sue Wolfe(Tuesday, July 30 13 01:28 pm EDT)Visiting NYC from their 95,000-population town were my niece & 13-yr daughter, as naive as they are beautiful. Where in NYC to house them safely & affordably?
I chose Staten Island's aptly named "Harbor House" & confided to the innkeep-er my fears. Mo cupped his hands & intoned: "They're in good...."
They were. From 7am breakfasts thru midnight returns, I could not have found my boutique-shopping, rare-items-laden, wide-eyed beauties a safer or more delightful NYC home. In awe...."★★★★★
I thought the rooms were going to be small by the photos, but the photos do not do the place justice. The rooms are actually nice and spacious, clean, warm during the night to sleep. The owner does a great job at maintaining the place clean. He is very friendly and will answer any questions to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Being our first time in NY he explained to us how to save money and to travel to and from the ferry. I would def. Stay there again. Roberto Grillo John(Friday, December 18 15 11:10 am EST)I stood at Harbor House for two nights with my son on Dec,7&8. Accomendations, view and area and ease to the Ferry were all Good. But the best part of the stay was the person in charge, Moe theManager was the best you could ask for. One of the nicest persons i have met in a long time. What ever went wrong during my trip he was there to helpme. He was having trouble with his foot, but did not let that stop him...I would stay there just because of Moe, and i am planning another stay there in May...Thank you Moe Steve Johnson(Sunday, July 05 15 11:18 pm EDT)My wife and I made our first visit to New York last October and my sister recommended the Harbor House as the place to stay and she was right. From the moment we checked in we felt welcomed. We wereshown to our room, oriented to the area, the bus line and ferry system. The room was comfortable and clean. I can’t imagine staying anyplace else when we go back. Peter & Kaye Sims(Tuesday, November 06 12 11:37 pm EST)Fantastic place to stay. After each hectic day in Manhattan it was a real pleasure to return on the ferry to the peace and quiet of Harbor House and its stunning views of the Manhattan skyline. Mowas an exceptional host, doing everything possible to make our 11 day stay perfect. We were there during Hurricane Sandy & he handled all the dramas with cheerful competence. It isn't 5 starluxury but so friendly and welcoming that we wouldn't think of staying anywhere else when we next travel to the U.S.★★★★★
(Friday, January 18 19 12:20 pm EST)The owner Moe, is very friendly and accommodating. He remembered us from our stay in 2016 and gave us a great deal on a nicer room for our stay over New Years 2018-19. Our room was so cozy and had a perfect view of the city from across the water. We will definitely contact him whenever we are in the NYC area! (Sunday, April 14 19 05:40 am EDT) Andrew and Chris We had a great time at the Harbor House. The view to Manhattan is just stunning and increadible. Moe is a great hose and very helpful. Frauke (Thursday, May 26 16 11:03 pm EDT)My brother, nephew, husband & I stayed here this past Friday - Monday and it was wonderful! We used to live in NYC and my husband is a native New Yorker, so my brother & nephew asked us for a personal tour of NYC. And this was the perfect place to stay. It's quiet, has a wonderful porch, a park is next door, and it's on NY Harbor, so there are wonderful views. We even saw a freighter turn around. It's only a few minutes to the Staten Island Ferry and then you are in the most exciting city in the world! My husband and I stayed in the Manhattan room and loved it! The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was good, and the view was phenomenal! We will stay there again next time we are in the city. Initially my brother and nephew had the Madison room. When I booked the reservation, it had a bunk bed and a sink. When we arrived, the bunk bed had been replaced by a double bed. It was a tight fit for them. Then Mr. Moe attempted to rectify the situation, but the first solution didn't work out well. But the next day when a better room was available, the he gave it to my brother & nephew. The room they were given was the Verrazano room! The best room! They were so happy! And the rates! You can't beat the rates! Best in NYC, unless you want to stay in a hostel or flop house!!!Next time we go to NYC, (assuming we don't stay with friends), this is where we will stay! Amy Capuccio
